Red Roses, Red Roses

“Wedding Book”

It was summer when my daughter was visiting that I began to think about women & their complicated lives – too many hats & too little time – with the world shifting & changing around them. But ideas like paintings evolve slowly over time – beneath the surface – until that perfect & unexpected moment of clarity. Like walking in to my friend’s shop just in time to see pictures of his daughter’s wedding scrolling by on the computer. It was a fairly casual outdoor wedding by traditional standards but elegant & still holding to custom. It seemed the perfect metaphor, delivered intact, to honor women as they traverse this new & unexplored territory – our present world.
